Ocean Waves explores how reflecting on the past can help with understanding current feelings. Taku is pulled along for the ride as Rikaku tries to return to the girl she was before moving to Kochi. All that Taku can blame Rikaku’s attitude on is the fact that she moved from Tokyo to Kochi, a small prefecture on one of Japan’s islands. While Rikaku is intelligent, athletic and beautiful, she becomes the main topic of gossip because of her arrogance. Ocean Waves follows the life of Taku Morisaki, a high school student whose life is turned upside down after Rikaku Muto, a girl from Tokyo, transfers to his school. What makes this film so different from other Studio Ghibli productions - but worth the watch - is its mature themes and content. ![]() Even without any of the three creators of the studio on the team, the film still managed to score an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it took until 2016 for the United States to finally premiere the Studio Ghibli film.Īlthough it took many years for the film to release overseas and in theaters, Ocean Waves received high praise. The film eventually made its way overseas and had a theatrical release in the UK in 2010. It wasn’t until six years after its release that the film was available on VHS. Unlike many of the studio’s films, Ocean Waves premiered on Nippon TV and never received an official Japanese theatrical release. Despite the intention to create a lower-budget animated film, the project went over budget, and took longer to produce than originally intended. ![]() ![]() The film was released in 1993 in Japan as a project by some of Studio Ghibli’s younger staff. Ocean Waves is based on Saeko Himuro’s novel I Can Hear the Sea. RELATED: Studio Ghibli Theme Park Sets International Ticket Sale Date Ocean Waves' Release and Reception

![]() That is why a PCR test result always takes a little longer (at least a few hours). A lower Ct value means that there is more virus present in the specimen. If the virus is present in higher levels, it will take fewer amplification cycles to reach that cycle threshold. The ‘Cycle threshold’ or Ct value is the number of amplification cycles required to detect the first signal that the virus is present. During each cycle, the genetic material doubles in volume this continues until it is detected by the PCR device. The genetic material is copied in different rounds or ‘cycles’. That means that the test cannot give a positive result for other viruses, such as those that cause the flu or the common cold. This fragment of genetic material is specific to the SARS-CoV-2 virus. To ensure that the test will be as sensitive as possible, a specific fragment of the genetic material is amplified (copied) using the polymerase chain reaction method, known as PCR. That means that the PCR test also detects the virus in someone who has a low viral load, either because they are not carrying much of the virus yet, or they no longer have much virus left in their body. That is why the PCR test has a high test sensitivity. ![]() ![]() In the PCR test, a small fragment of genetic material inside the virus is replicated repeatedly, in order to detect the presence of the virus even in very small quantities. This sample goes to a laboratory, where research is done to check for the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. To perform this test, a smear is taken from the nose and throat with a cotton swab. The PCR test detects specific fragments of genetic material from the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. The polymerase chain reaction test or “PCR test” Due to the testing technique, the tests in the NAAT category are generally more sensitive than the rapid antigen tests (which includes self-tests). To change course and attempt to win Castro's friendship with favourable trade deals was likely to be interpreted as a humiliating defeat for the United States. His main fear was that Cuba could eventually become a Soviet military base. The more he attempted to punish Fidel Castro the closer he became to the Soviet Union. President Dwight Eisenhower was in a difficult situation. The Soviet Union also agreed to supply the weapons, technicians and machinery denied to Cuba by the United States. He also negotiated a deal where by the Soviet Union and other communist countries in Eastern Europe agreed to purchase the sugar that the United States had refused to take.
